The "Welcome Party," a gathering for new students who entered the UoA in April 2019, was held at the Keyaki restaurant (2nd floor of the Student Hall) on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019. The event is jointly organized by the Center for Globalization and SAISUA in the spring and fall semesters of every academic year.
This year, there were 91 participants including University President Ryuichi Oka and Vice President Shigaku Tei. Mr. Edward Ly, 1st year master student from America, took the role of the MC. At the beginning of the party, President Oka and SAISUA President Julian Villegas gave their welcome remarks. Then, new international students from Vietnam, China, America, Germany, and Nigeria together with new Japanese students introduced themselves to everyone. The participants intermingled and enjoyed the party together.
In addition, Mr. Tak Hei Law, 2nd year undergraduate student, introduced the activities of the Global Lounge and participants enjoyed a performance by the university's street dance circle "O.M.G". For the closing remark, Vice-president Tei led everyone to do "Ippon Jime," a traditional clapping ritual to honor the close of a formal event, and the party ended with great success.
At the party, it is a good chance that new students leant the international exchange activity on campus and a good chance for them to communicate among Japanese and international students.
